Things that annoy me greatly.....

Okay, to be honest I actually don't get annoyed all that easily. I'm not the most patient person in the world, but I'm also certainly not the most impatient person. There are a couple things lately that have been driving me absolutely insane.

The first thing is ignorant people blaming Bush for ALL of our problems in America. Before you roll your eyes and stop reading, I'm not supporting Bush here or letting him off the hook for some of the many dumb ass decisions he has made. What I mean by this is, no one person in government can be blamed for all of the shortcomings of a nation. He may be leader of this country, but guess what he is not the law maker or law enforcer. America's government is built on a system of checks and balances. Most of us learned this in ELP or some other related government class in high school, but still I thought I'd refresh your memory. The President is part of the executive branch of the government. The executive branch is the branch of government charged with putting into effect a country's laws and the administering of its functions. The President does not and can not make the laws. He can propose a law, but it has to go through congress before it can be passed. Yes he is the final one with his hands on any bill (law) that is to be passed. He can choose to either veto or pass the bill into law. Because of this he does have a great responsibility and much of the blame can be put on him, but not all of it.

Before any law can be passed, it must first go through the Senate and the House of Represenatives. So if there's a law out there that you don't like or don't agree with, you can't just blame the president for that one. There are approximately 535 other elected officials who also hold some of the blame. And just for the mere fact that our president and our congress men and women are elected officials puts blame on us as Americans as well. You voted for that person. Or you chose not to vote and therefore, did nothing to keep that person out of office. Those of us who don't vote are just as responsible for Bush being in office as those who actually voted for Bush. This is why I chose to not criticize Bush too much. I may not like some of the things he does, but I didn't vote last election, so I really have no say in it. My point in all this is I am so completely tired of hearing people say, "Bush screwed up this country." "Bush screwed up our economy" "Everything bad that is happening in this country is because of Bush" Well it's time to stop blaming Bush and take a look at your own self! Bush screwed up. There's no denying that. He's made some very poor decisions as far as the welfare of our country goes. But it is not all his fault. There will never be any president that should take all of the blame, or credit for that matter, for the country's shortcomings or the country's success'. We as people are to be blamed and/or given credit. Every single congress man or woman should be given blame or credit. I don't want to hear about how our country is completely screwed because of Bush. Guess what? It takes much more than one person to get this country into the state that it is in now. It takes much more than just one person to get the economy in the disgusting shape that it is in now.

I'm not supporting or defending Bush. I think he has been a huge part of the problem. I'm just trying to get other people to see that he is not the ONLY problem. Electing a new president will help, but it will not fix things. We as people have to change. We have to truly look into more than just our presidential candidates. We need to thoroughly investigate who is running for Senate and House and who we vote for. Don't forget there is more to our government than just the President.

Okay now on to the second thing that has been driving me crazy lately. It's in the same subject area. I want to cut my wrists or something every time I see a political commercial. It doesn't matter who is on the commercial, I hate it. I know that some of us Americans are to ignorant to truly investigate the issues and the people we vote for. I know some of us our dumb enough to just vote for the person who has the best commercial or said the most negative things about their opponent, but I'm not one of them. Unless you look into things on your own, you will not know what the truth is. Of course, any candidate is going to talk good about themselves and completely trash talk their opponent. You can't expect them to be like, "you know actually I'm doing these bad things and my opponent is doing these amazing things." They're not going to say that, so you have to find out on your own if you want to know the truth. I think political commercials are actually a horrible idea, and without them maybe more people would be motivated to actually find out what type of person they are voting for and what he or she stands for. Since I do not have the ability to rid this world of political commercials, I will just chose to press mute and look elsewhere when they are on.

Also I hate political parties. I think that is the stupidest idea ever. Why do we as people feel the need to fit everything in to neat little categories? And why do we freak out when something doesn't fit into one of our categories? I am pro-life. I'm also for gay marriage. I'm against stem cell research and stricter gun laws. I believe in tightening the restrictions on those who receive welfare. But I also believe in protecting our environment and using diplomacy in place of military action. So what am I? Am I a republican or a democrat? I'm neither or I'm both, depending on which way you look at it. I find political parties a waste. It's just an excuse for people to think less and fill out less circles on their voting ballot. How do you know that you want to vote for every single candidate in one party. Have you looked into them all and know where they stand on the issues? You don't, but it's an easy way out. You can say you did your patriotic duty of voting, without having to waste hardly any time.

Well those are a few of the things that have been annoying me lately. This is probably the last you'll hear about politics from me this year. I hope I didn't offend anyone. My opinion is my opinion, so don't take it personally.
