Ashley ended up having to work yesterday, which completely sucked because I really wanted her to go to David's Bridal with me to look at dresses. But I understood completely. School, work, and family obligations always come before wedding planning. It is that way for me, and I don't expect it to be any different with anybody else. So Ashley did not get to come, but on the bright side I got to spend some mother- daughter time with my Mom. We haven't gotten much of a chance to do that lately, and helping me pick out wedding dresses was the perfect time for it. So I tried on about five dresses. I had them already picked out before we got to the store. Each dress I put on I liked more than the one before. That is until I came to the fourth dress. I put this dress on, and I fell in love with it. It was so beautiful. It was the dress that made my mom start crying. lol. When I saw how much her seeing me in it touched her I just knew that I had to have this dress. It was perfect for me! Like I said, as soon as I put it on I fell in love with it, and I just knew that this was the dress I wanted to wear when I marry the love of my life, and the man that I am going to spend forever with! I think because of how excited I was about it, Tyler didn't get upset with me for going ahead and buying it before I tried on Kim's wedding gown. He said though that this time he didn't even want to see a picture of the dress or the dress hanging up in our closet. He said that it sounded so beautiful that he wanted to see it for the first time on "the most beautiful girl" he knows that he is going to marry and spend the rest of his life with. He's so sweet! So the dress is being stored at my Mom's house, which works out better anyway because we are lacking in closet space. I also purchased the long veil and tiara that came with the dress while I was there. Those are at my Mom's too.
The main reason I went to David's Bridal was to look at the bridesmaid's dress colors and pick up some color swatches. I was planning on trying dresses on, but I definitely was not planning on buying one, but oh well. So I looked at the dress that Ashley and I were pretty sure that we wanted. It was the Plum colored one. Well I'm very glad we had not already chosen this color for sure. The Plum looked very different on line than it did in the store. The Lapis color was more like how the plum color looked online. This actually works out perfect! The problem we were running into with the plum is that they did not make the junior bridesmaids dresses in plum. My mom was going to have to make Sydni's and Emily Jane's dresses. This was going to be how it was done until I saw the Plum and I found out that, because so few things come in Plum, they don't even offer a Plum swatch that we could use to find the correct fabric to buy for dress making. On line the tux place said that they don't offer the men's vest in lapis, but after talking to my dress consultant she said that the place next door to them definitely does. So I think we are planning on using Lapis and white as our wedding colors. Also they don't make the original dress we picked out in lapis, so I ended up changing the style. It's not a for sure thing yet. I still have to talk to Ashley and all my other gorgeous bridesmaids, and get their opinions before I decide.
Also while I was speaking with my consultant she said I needed to get my bridesmaids in VERY soon. I looked at her like she was crazy, and I asked her why. She said they have just recently extended their shipping estimates on bridesmaids dresses from six to eight weeks to six to twenty weeks. I just looked at her, and was like twenty weeks. Are you kidding me?!? Twenty weeks is five months so that would pretty much mean I would have to get everyone in like now. Like seriously that is so stupid. And in all probability the dresses would show up within six to ten weeks and there would have been no point in going in that early in the first place. But I also really can't run the risk of one of my bridesmaids not having a dress come wedding day. So to my ladies who actually read this, we are going to be taking a trip to Davids Bridal very soon. Oh and I know some of you weren't financially prepared for doing this so soon, but don't worry about it. We'll figure something out. And I still can't believe six to TWENTY weeks thing. That is a little bit ridiculous!
